Multi-Protocol Bar Code Print Servers

Finally...Seamless AS/400 to LAN Printing at an Economical Price
I-O BarCode Print Servers are single-port, multi-protocol print servers designed to provide support for specialty printers, such as bar code label printers. Available in either parallel or serial versions, I-O BarCode Print Servers combine the functionality of an Ethernet printer server with reliable, full-function AS/400-to-LAN printing.

The I-O 5430 (for parallel printers) and the I-O 5431 (for serial printers) BarCode Print Server attaches one parallel or serial printer directly to a 10 or 100 Mbps Ethernet LAN. They support multiple protocols, including TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and Net BIOS, providing specialty printer connectivity to a variety of operating systems such as Windows NT/98/95; Netware 3.x, 4.x, 5.x; OS/2; Unix; and IBM's OS/400. Due to the I-O BarCode Print Server's support of proprietary label printer languages, a one-step configuration process makes setup extremely easy.

A variety of AS/400 to LAN printing protocols are included, such as SNA/APPC, and AnyNet, as well as fully native TCP/IP printing using TN5250e. With any of these protocols, the I-O BarCode Print Server provides reliable, full function AS/400 printing support and control equal to that of a direct twinax-attached 5250 printer. Using I-O's implementation of TN5250e, up to ten different AS/400 hosts can be supported.

As with all I-O Print Servers, the included enhanced features add value to any attached printer, whether its a laser, dot matrix, or specialty printer.

FeaturesBenefits
AS/400 printing over EthernetAllows AS/400 print jobs to be seamlessly printed over a LAN.
Enhanced Telnet 5250 (TN5250e)Communicate with uo to ten AS/400's using native TCP/IP.
Printer error reporting to the AS/400Prevents loss of AS/400 print data by providing same level of print status reporting as a 5250 twinax printer.
Page range printing from the AS/400Permits users to print select page ranges from large documents and reports.
Auto configuration (One step setup)Installs in minutes using native TCP/IP, avoiding complex software configurations.
Offloading of Data ConversionEliminates unnecessary AS/400 or PC overhead by converting EBCDIC data directly on the I-O 5430B/31B. Host Print Transform is no longer required
True IBM printer emulationsPermits full-function AS/400 printing on the attached LAN printer.
Simultaneous, multi-host printingMaximizes printer utilization by supporting concurrent printing not only from multiple AS/400's but from Novell, Windows NT, Windows 95, OS/2, UNIX, etc.
10BaseT and 100BaseTProtects print server investment when upgrading the LAN to 100 Mbps.
Powerful RISC processorTakes advantage of the LAN printer's maximum print speed even when processing AS/400 jobs.
Unique support of proprietary bar code label printer languagesPrint self-tests, diagnostics, dumps, etc., directly to any attached label printer for convenient customization and trouble-shooting.
